Charcoal to sunglasses, auction of ‘unclaimed’ items today
Thiruvananthapuram: From charcoal to old parts of Yamaha bike, an interesting array of unclaimed articles will be lined up for auction at the office of the Chief Postmaster General, Kerala circle, Trivandrum at 10am on Tuesday.
As many as 15 categories of items like bags and purses, clothes, electrical items, fancy items and toys, footwear, clothing (gents, ladies & kids), kitchen items, mobile phones, and accessories, used clothes, watches and a set of miscellaneous items will be put up for auction.

All these items have been unclaimed articles received between 2017 and 2023. This will be the first auction to be held post the Covid years.
In many cases, people refuse to accept the materials either due to need for payment of tax and it is sent back to the sender who again would not accept it. There are cases where there will be no from or to address and since there is no way to find an address, the articles are marked as unclaimed, an official said.
Articles included in the list are 32 bags, 30 cloth materials like cradle cloth, bandana, bed sheets, pillow cover, raincoats, 27 watches, 28 mobiles, 89 fancy items, cosmetics and toys like sunglasses, parker pen, religious items, toy cars, Ganapathi idols, etc.
Going by the present condition of mobiles, it does not seem luring enough.
Many of the items are back covers and mobile stands, mostly either used or in broken condition or with screen damage.
